The list of things I did:
-Grinder that fender.
-Clear coat it.
-Say a prayer to the almighty Snorkelstang that it didn't rust again.
-Spray more clear.
-Drill the holes for the plate.
-Put on this oil cap I like better.
-Take the decklid hinges off.

That is an awesome VW. Me and a friend bought a 57 together and it was the most memorable car I ever owned. Did not say great car, just memorable. Thanks.

Some real automotive clear may fare better. You can get it from most autobody jobbers in cans too.
Either way, that thing looks great. It's one of two Beetles l'd ever consider buying/owning.
